Military-Connected at Kriewald
Here at Kriewald Road School of the Arts, we love to celebrate our military-connected students and families throughout the year! Below you will find some of those opportunities and are encouraged to reach out to your military campus liaison to learn more!
Military-Connected Breakfast Groups
- Military-connected students at Kriewald have the opportunity to participate in breakfast groups throughout the year! These groups are a great way for our students to build community with one another. Our groups include game days, different activities, and in the 2026-2027 school year, we are hoping to implement a couple of community service projects. Permission slips are sent out to families for these groups.
Introductory Tours
- All students who are new Kriewald have the opportunity to receive a school tour from one of their peers. We try to connect them with a peer from their grade level and they talk about topics like dismissal, safety, lunch, specials, recess, and more! It is also a great time for our new Coyotes to ask any questions that they may have about the school and community.
Lunch Buddies
- We know that part of the nerve-wracking experience of a new school does sometimes include lunch. To help with this, each classroom has added the job of "lunch buddy" to their classroom job list. This is a person or people who volunteer to each lunch with any new students for at least the first week of school. This is designed to help them get their foot in the door and encourages our students to be welcoming and kind to all Coyotes, current or new.
Veterans Day
- Each year, the Veterans in our Kriewald community are invited to the school to participate in a celebration. Be on the lookout in late October for that information. You can also reach out to Mrs. Thompson for details and more information.
Purple Up!
- Every April our campus highlights our Purple Up! Day. It is a day for our community to come together and celebrate our military-connected students and their service to our country. Mrs. Thompson sends that information out towards the end of March. You can reach out to her for details and more information.
Month of the Military Child Pinning Ceremony
- April is the Month of the Military Child! We host a pinning ceremony each year, where we celebrate our military-connected students and their loved ones are able to "pin-them" and recognize them.
Coyotes Around the World Map
- Military-connected families are able to create a family crest that we turn into pins and add to our Kriewald map. This map is displayed in our school and recognizes that our Coyotes come from locally, far, and wide. It also is a reminder that no matter where their journey takes them, they will always be a part of our Coyote family!
Kriewald Passport
- Mrs. Thompson works to create passports for our students to take with them when they relocate. These are cards with kind words and messages from their teachers they had during their time here at Kriewald. If your family will be relocating, please reach out to Mrs. Thompson so that she can work on those!
