Have a Great Summer

       Kriewald Road Elementary School

            A Holdsworth Campus

June 5, 2018

Greetings Coyote Parents/Guardians,

We would like to take the opportunity to wish all of our Kriewald families a fantastic summer break. Students have earned some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

We are proud of all of our students’ accomplishments this school year and look forward to another successful school year for 2018-2019.  School begins on Monday, August 27, 2018. We allow our parents to escort their children to their class the first day of school, and we allow our parents to have lunch with their child on their first day.  The remainder of the first week, we ask all parents to please allow us the opportunity to train our students for daily procedures at breakfast and lunch.  You may drop off your child in the cafeteria in the mornings and teachers will take them from there after that first day. This is an important training time for our students and will impact our routines and procedures for the rest of the year.  We appreciate your help as we train our students for successful school routines during the first week of school.  Parents may join their child for breakfast and lunch beginning September 4th.

Be on the lookout for a summer letter from me in the early part of August inviting you to our Meet the Teacher night.  We schedule Meet the Teacher when teachers return.  Teachers first day at work is August 17.  This is a teacher workday and they will be busy putting their classrooms back together.

The week of August 20th is when teachers go to beginning of the year Professional Development during the day.  We will schedule our Meet the Teacher the week of August 20th in the evening.  You may bring school supplies with you to this event so students don’t have to bring their supplies the first day of school. School supply lists will be posted on our district and campus websites.  You will also receive one with my summer letter.

We also want to ask that our students continue to read, continue to practice their math skills, and engage in problem solving as much as possible over the summer. We want to avoid the “Summer Slide”.  This is the time when summer learning loss can occur.  It happens with children do not engage in educational activities during the summer months, and they may forget some of what they learned over the previous school year. Thanks for helping your child not fall into the summer slide and keeping them active this summer.

Parents, we want to thank you for all your support throughout the year. It takes all of us to build a great school.  We encourage you to join out PTA and have a voice in what happens at our school. We need you.

We wish all of our Kriewald families a great summer.  Stay cool in this hot Texas weather! Call or email me if you have any questions or concerns at 210-645-7550 or

See you next year!
